It's that time of year again...the leaves are starting to change and health care is also changing!
This HRNet Update contains information to help you while considering your options and learn about trends in general.
In 2008 we conducted a survey of WV businesses and their benefits program. As many of you recognize, West Virginia and the surrounding region have their own "micro-climates" for salary and benefits issues that large surveys or general trends don't recognize or include.
Are you interested in a 2010 survey? Please answer yes or no on our one question survey (click here). The voting window will be brief so please vote by October 11th.
HEALTH CARE FOR 2011 Trends
According to every source we've researched...paying more is a given.
Across the board employers are planning to increase the employee contributions from three to thirteen percent of total employer cost.
Employers are also beefing up programs that encourage employees to lower their medical expenses, including cessation programs, health management programs and wellness/health improvement programs.
Another trend for 2011 is having a drug prescription plan which is tiered to favor generic drugs by paying a large portion or all of generic prescriptions, a lesser portion of middle-of-the-road brand name drugs or even less for premium brand name drugs.
We have listed our reference links below plus other links that can help you discern the changes you may be contemplating AND we've included a link with West Virginia insurance companies that have programs for smaller businesses.
